Premier Hotel Pretoria Goes Green
Premier Hotel Pretoria has taken steps in the green direction after having taken part in the Greening Hotels in South Africa Project under the auspices of the Travel Foundation UK and Wilderness Foundation South Africa earlier this year.
The Travel Foundation exists as an organisation to protect and enhance the environment in holiday destinations, improve the well-being of destination communities, provide a resource for the industry, promote sustainable tourism to the industry and holidaymakers and establish best practice within the industry.
Similar Greening Programmes have been undertaken in countries such as Sri Lanka, Morocco and the Caribbean and the aim of the project in South Africa is to instill an ethical environmental value system, raise environmental awareness and increase environmental operating efficiency whilst reducing energy, water and waste consumption.
In the programme, the Premier Hotel Pretoria was provided ways to reduce water, electricity and waste consumption in low cost ways and adapt staff behavioural attitudes in order to demonstrate an environmentally responsible brand.
“Not only has the project created an environmentally-aware consciousness at Premier Hotel Pretoria, but impacts on the group as a whole that being kind to the planet is also good, efficient and accountable hotel business practice,” says Premier Hotel Group MD Samuel Nassimov.
